INTERNATIONAL ADOPTION

International Adoption is the adoption of a child or youth from another country. The children may have been residing with foster families or in orphanages. The international adoption process is one that recognizes an individual or couple as the legal and permanent parent(s) of a child from another country. An international adoption complies with the laws of both the sending and receiving countries.Prospective adoptive parents must meet the adoption requirements of their province or territory before embarking on an international adoption. The Central Adoption Authority in your province will approve your family for international adoption. Please use the link below to contact your provincial adoption authority.

In order to enter Canada with your your adopted child, it is necessary to apply for Citizenship or Immigration (Permanent Residency or Canadian Citizenship) for the child through IRCC.

Prospective adoptive parents are advised to research the international adoption agency they are working with, and to speak with other adoptive families who have used the services of the adoption agency.
