Dr. Lucy LeMare of the Faculty of Education, Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, BC. Researchers will revisit children adopted from Romanian orphanages when most are 9 to 10 years of age. Dr. Nancy Cohen, Director of Research at the Hincks-=Dellcrest Centre in Toronto, along with scientific collaborators and with Children's Bridge and Open Arms to International Adoption, is piloting a research project examining the development of children adopted from China. Children are seen shortly after the child's arrival in Canada and 6 months later. They plan more study of more families for longer time. Le développement socioémotif des enfants adoptés à l'étranger : une étude comparative, Subvention, Fonds québécois de la recherche sur la société et la culture. La transition vers l'adoption d'enfants placés en famille d'accueil. Le modèle québécois de la « banque mixte ». Recherche subventionnée par le Fonds de recherche sur la société et la culture. Étude du processus de transition qui mène du placement à l'adoption d'enfants québécois suivis par la Direction de la Protection de la Jeunesse. Identification des pratiques et des représentations qui affectent la poursuite simultanée des trois enjeux suivants : a) stabiliser l'enfant dans une famille répondant à ses besoins spéciaux ; b) réaliser un projet parental et intégrer l'enfant dans la famille ; c) reconnaître les liens de l'enfant avec sa famille biologique. Recherche subventionnée par le Fonds de recherche sur la nature et les technologies dont l'objectif est de mettre en relation les normes juridiques et les pratiques en adoption internationale relativement aux enjeux suivants : 1) l'accès des adoptés aux renseignements sur leurs origines ; 2) les contacts avec la famille biologique ; 3) les adoptions intrafamiliales et celles réalisées par des personnes homosexuelles. Il s'agira de comparer les approches sociojuridiques de différents pays d'accueil et d'origine en dégageant leurs principaux impacts pour les enfants et leurs familles ; d'analyser des situations d'adoption internationale au Québec qui soulèvent un questionnement sur les trois enjeux étudiés et d'identifier les ajustements juridiques envisageables en examinant leurs implications.
