THE ACC STRONGLY URGES THE ONTARIO GOVERNMENT TO ACT SWIFTLY TO BRING IN AMENDMENTS TO THE NEW AIDA
(October 1, 2007) The Adoption Council of Canada (ACC) strongly urges the Ontario government to act swiftly to bring in amendments to the new Adoption Information Disclosure Act. This Act was struck down as unconstitutional by Mr. Justice Edward Belobaba on September 19th, 2007.

OPEN RECORDS: ACC SAYS IT'S "THE RIGHT LAW FOR ONTARIO" 
(Sept. 6, 2007)   In 2005 the Adoption Information Disclosure Act became law and was welcomed by many sectors of the adoption community in Ontario. That law has now been proclaimed and will come into force on Sept. 17, 2007. As of that date, adult adoptees and birth parents, whose adoptions were finalized in Ontario, can apply to get information in adoption orders and original birth records.  

NEW BRUNSWICK TO REFORM ITS ADOPTION LAW  
(Apr. 11, 2007)  New Brunswick amendments will affect open adoptions, adoptions by common-law couples and international adoptions.  

CITIZENSHIP CHANGES WILL HELP CHILDREN ADOPTED ABROAD
(May 15, 2006) Bill C-14 would amend the Citizenship Act to make it easier for children adopted abroad to become Canadian citizens.
